At St. Michael’s, we deliver Primary Science education grounded in the National Curriculum and enriched by the PLAN (Progression and Assessment in Primary Science) documents. These resources guide our planning, ensuring a coherent progression of knowledge and skills across all year groups. Our Science Principles, which reflect the school’s commitment to fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and hands-on investigation, serve as the foundation of our teaching. By embedding the PLAN framework into our principles, we tailor lessons to encourage inquiry-based learning, develop scientific vocabulary, and build pupils’ understanding of key concepts. This integrated approach enables us to cultivate a deep and lasting engagement with science. At St. Michael’s, all children are scientists and are taught to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyse the causes. Children are actively encouraged to question the  ever changing world around them.
