At St Michael’s, we believe that in order to help us fulfill our mission as a Catholic school of nurturing hearts, minds and spirits, the voice of our families is invaluable. Your feedback helps us create a nurturing and effective learning environment for our children. By listening to your suggestions and working together, we ensure that our school community thrives. Thank you for partnering with us to make St Michael’s a place where every child can succeed and grow in faith and knowledge.

At the end of last year you told us that you would like there to be more after school activities and clubs on offer for children in the new school year.
We Did…
- Starting in Autumn term 2024 we introduced a comprehensive after school club offer, run by both external providers (Funtime and Mrs Birtwistle) and St Michael’s members of staff
- There are after school clubs on offer throughout the year for all children from Reception-Year 6.
- Clubs we have offered include baking, cricket, football, eco art and Spanish.
- Club sign up forms are shared with families in the half term before the club starts to allow families time to organise collection from the club. Sign ups forms are sent out at 6:00 pm to allow for parents to sign up after work/school hours.

Families told us that they would like more opportunities to come into school.
We Did…
- Introduced a new format for Celebration Worship where families are invited into school every Friday for the regular Celebration Worship. Families can also attend if their child is bringing in an award/achievement from home.
- Introduced yearly ‘class assemblies’ for each class where the families of those children are invited to attend.
- Introduced ‘Stay for Lunch’. Once a year the families of the children in a specific class are invited to come into school and join their child for lunch.
- Improved the way we communicate information regarding all events with children-we are now paperless in our communication with families, using an online diary with regular updates and reminders for families.
- During Advent and Lent we run weekly ‘stay and pray’ sessions for families where the families of all children are invited to join us for prayers before school.
- Reading Breakfasts-all classes hold a yearly reading breakfast where families are invited to join us to read together.
- Introduced the ‘Surprise Reader’ initiative-in the Autumn/Spring term families were invited to come and read to their child’s class each Thursday at 3:00 pm, but it was a complete surprise for the children!

Families told us they would like a regular slot made available to be able to ‘drop in’ and meet with the SENCO.
We Did…
- This year we run half termly drop in sessions for families to come and meet with the SENCO.
- The sessions are a mix or workshops/information sharing and opportunities for parents to ask questions and make connections with other families.

Some families suggested they would like even more information about their child’s learning in RE lessons.
We Did…
- Fully updated our school website to include a wealth of information about what the Catholic Life of St Michael’s is like.
- Embraced the use of social media to ensure that families have near daily updates on life in school, with a specific focus on our Catholic mission.
- Improved the way we share information with families-paperless systems-so that families know what is happening in school and when.
- Edited our end of year report format to give very clear, precise information about a child’s learning in RE.
There are currently no ‘live’ surveys for families to take part in.
